Anna, you did not set out to be a lawyer. You were a self-described “science nerd” at UCLA, studying molecular, cell and developmental biology and headed for a PhD track, until what you heard about older graduate students’ experiences told you that research and academia were not for you. You took that analytic brain and your public policy minor to UC Berkeley School of Law instead.
You spent your first law school summer at the Pentagon and your second at WilmerHale in Washington DC, then joined WilmerHale’s Palo Alto office rather than the capital, working patent litigation and complex commercial disputes for Apple, Intel and other major Silicon Valley technology companies until you were promoted to counsel. California admitted you to the bar on December 1, 2006. In August 2013 you joined EFI as corporate counsel, then moved your young family to Spain to put the legal team on the ground in Europe, where a posting meant to last 1 year ran to 2. After a stint as Director of Legal at Carbon you came back in December 2020 to take the general counsel seat that had once been your boss’s, and today you are Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary, leading EFI’s global legal function and overseeing strategic relations.
